Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon has revealed he was attacked by a swarm of bees while out hiking with family this week.
Bacon, 67, said he was hiking with his daughter Sosie Bacon, 34, and her partner Scoot McNairy when the unexpected incident unfolded.
The attack comes as bee-related incidents continue to rise across parts of the United States.
Bee Attack Leaves Actor Kevin Bacon Covered in Stings
Bacon shared the story in a humorous Instagram video posted Thursday, recounting how the hike suddenly took a painful turn.
"So I went for a hike the other day with Sosie and Scoot," he said. "Scoot was in the front, Sosie was in the middle, and I was holding up the rear."
"Scoot points out to the left that there's a beehive over there. Sosie says, 'Dad, hey, there's a beehive. Watch out.'"
Despite trying to avoid the hive, Bacon joked that the bees appeared to single him out.
"So these bees, they must not have liked my work or something because they left the two of them alone, and they went full on after me. 'Let's attack KB,'" he added. "Bees stinging me everywhere, including underneath my shirt."
Bacon did not suggest the incident became medically serious and instead leaned into the comedic side of the ordeal.
Rising Bee Incidents Reported Across Parts of the United States
The actor later joked that it was "very nice" of his daughter not to film the attack as it happened.
He then revealed he asked Sosie to recreate the moment for social media. The video then cuts to her humorously dancing and flailing around to mimic the chaos.
The post carried the caption, "The bees attack KB by [Sosie Bacon]"
Bacon's wife, Kyra Sedgwick, commented on the video, laughing at the reenactment.
The incident comes amid a reported increase in aggressive bee activity, particularly in Arizona.
Experts have linked attacks to an unusually warm winter.
Earlier this year, a hiker in Arizona was left in critical condition after reportedly being stung "more than 100 times."
Other incidents have also emerged in recent months, including a man in his 50s who was stung "multiple times" at Arizona State University's soccer stadium after a swarm became aggressive.
Several other people were also stung during that incident, though the man suffered the most serious injuries while trying to escape and later required hospital treatment.
In July 2025, two adults and two children were hospitalized after another bee attack outside a dollar store in the same region.
Fire officials said some of the victims were stung "up to 15 times."
