Kyle Busch Honored During Emotional Pre-Race Ceremony

Ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway over the weekend, NASCAR paid tribute to Busch with an emotional pre-race ceremony.

One of the most touching moments came before the race's moment of silence.

Broadcast coverage captured Owen Larson, the son of NASCAR champion Kyle Larson, walking over to comfort Busch's 11-year-old son, Brexton Busch.

As Busch's family stood in front of the crowd, Owen quietly stepped forward and embraced Brexton during the emotional tribute.

The heartfelt interaction quickly spread across social media, where millions viewed the moment.

"Sweet young man," one user wrote on X. "That meant a lot to Brexton I'm sure."

"Wow. Did not notice that on the broadcast. We have a good generation coming up in our beloved sport," another user added.

Richard Childress Racing Retires Busch's Iconic No. 8

On Friday, Busch's team, Richard Childress Racing, announced that it would suspend use of his iconic No. 8 car.

The organization revealed that the number will remain reserved for Brexton Busch should he one day pursue a NASCAR career himself.

"Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond," the statement read.

"Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR's stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry."

"No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing."

Busch joined Richard Childress Racing in 2023 after spending 15 years with Joe Gibbs Racing.

At the time of his death, Busch competed in his 22nd full-time NASCAR Cup Series season. He won two championships and collected 63 career race victories.

Busch leaves behind his wife, Samantha Busch, whom he married on New Year's Eve in 2021, along with their children Brexton and four-year-old daughter Lennix.
