The incident happened in Albuquerque, New Mexico. An 18-wheeler struck the band's van from behind, causing it to wreck. All three of the band members, Yellow, Pink, and Tiger, suffered severe injuries in the resulting crash.
Following the crash, Dan Redman launched a GoFundMe for the band and their recovery efforts. So far, they've raised more than $170,000. In the latest update, Redman revealed that the band is still in the hospital but "all are conscious and stable."
He further shared how each member is doing. Yellow suffered multiple fractures to his spine, ribs, and a possible traumatic brain injury. He said, "His injuries are no longer considered life-threatening but will require additional surgeries and significant rehabilitation. The spinal team determined that surgery is not currently required, but he will be required to wear a cervical collar for several months. He is improving every day and is alert and able to communicate."
Band Is Recovering
Meanwhile, Pink suffered several fractures to her legs and pelvis. She also suffered abdominal injuries and needed multiple surgeries. However, she's able to communicate and eat normally now after her injuries.
Finally, he said, "Tiger suffered a head injury and is being monitored for traumatic brain injury but has shown significant progress and is expected to be discharged soon. He will also require occupational and physical rehabilitation but is doing well."
The hospitalization of the band brought plenty of well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers from fans. One person said that they hope the band recovers.
They wrote, "They are some of the most creative, KINDEST, and spirited musicians I have ever had the privilege of seeing perform. Where else can you see Kaiju Battles, conga lines, stage dives, and the lead singer THROWING his guitar to the fans in the front row all set to AWESOME songs about Ninjas, Tacos, and Steak?!?! GET BETTER SOON, PEELANDER YELLOW, PEELANDER PINK, AND PEELANDER TIGER!!!"
Another fan wrote, "Thanks for setting this up and keeping us in the loop, Dan! Amazing to see so many people showing their support. I've only seen the band once 16 years ago when they toured Germany, but the energy and joy they brought (to an audience of people who mostly had no idea who they were) is etched into my mind and heart. Here's hoping everyone gets back on their feet soon, stronger and better than ever!"
We'll keep you updated on their recovery.
