The chances to see George Strait in concert are getting fewer and far between. That's why his Strait to the Heart charity concert at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas on Sunday, July 27, was such a special event.

Of course, it was a tough to get in. All 1,000 tickets for the event, which was announced on July 11 with prices starting at $1,000, were sold out. All of the proceeds went to the families affected by floods on July 4 in Kern County, Texas, and the surrounding areas. Senator Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi, even managed to get in.
It certainly helped that performers Riley Green, William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park and Hudson Westbrook were on the bill with the "King of Country." But there was one star who made an appearance that surprised everyone.
Is That Who We Think It Is?
Aside from the scene of Senator Cruz cutting a rug on the dance floor, there isn't much video from the event. There's a clip of Strait's performance of "Amarillo By Morning" making the rounds. However, there's one scene from the event that caught our attention.
We almost did a double-take:
That's Garth Brooks! The legend appeared midway through the dinner as a surprise guest. He reportedly performed some of his greatest hits, including "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)." He also did a rendition of his ballad "The Dance." From what we gather, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Strait and Brooks' paths have intertwined throughout their long careers. In fact, Strait was supposedly offered the song "Friends in Low Places" first. Yet somehow, the two managed to make the best of the situation.
George Strait's Event Was a Success
The Strait to the Heart event was a complete success. According to a
Facebook post by Boerne resident Greg Davis, the concert raised $6.25 million. That is a remarkable amount of money made for an event that was planned in two weeks."This was a concert of a lifetime for me," said Davis.
