It's been about two months since Ella Langley stole our hearts with her hit single, "Choosin' Texas". Currently, the song sits at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Chart. Everyone seems to be loving it, including Bailey Zimmerman, who says that Langley's "got him in a chokehold".

On Instagram, Zimmerman shared a video of himself jamming along to Langley's hit. He captioned it, "I listen to this song at least 10x a day @ellalangleymusic INSANE." Fans in the comments couldn't help but agree with Zimmerman's statement. The song, which is written by none other than Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor, has that old-country feel. Everybody seems to be obsessed with that sound these days.
The song describes the feeling of rejection, with Ella playing the role of a heartbroken girl from Tennessee who's being replaced by a girl from, well, Texas, obviously. The song's catchy "He's choosing Texas, I can tell" hook sets it apart from other songs of similar caliber. Just watch the lyric video for the single below.
Ella Langley Reveals Details About Upcoming Album
It's expected that "Choosin' Texas" will be on Ella's sophomore album, which she discussed in a recent interview. It was then that she expressed a desire for all the songs on the next project to be "single-worthy", even though it's usually up to the fans which songs end up being the hits.
"Every song off this record will be able to be a single if I wanted it to be," Langley explained, "But what's cool with doing that is I really give it up to the fans at that point, and I give it up to the listener. Because, you know, I believe in all the songs... but yeah, it's just nuts when you give it to the fans and... kind of just... let the listener take it from there."
At a show in Houston, the singer revealed she was trying to be intentional about the space between her projects. "You know, I put some space between my records, just 'cause I had to live some life," she told fans. "What the hell do y'all want me to write songs about? Nothing? You know, I had to love somebody in between these last two records to make a record."
So, even though we know the album is expected in 2026, according to Langley, it might be a while before we get a significant update.
