While some people have festive holiday lights, this gentleman takes Christmas decorations to an entirely new level. He decided to get in the holiday spirit by hosting a friendly neighborhood competition for who has the best decorations. Let's just say this guy knocked it out of the park. 20-Foot Recreation Of Lamp From 'A Christmas Story'
One Florida resident, J.P. Michalik, decided to spice of Christmas this year. He told PEOPLE Magazine, "I thought it'd be fun to have a neighborhood competition, who could have the best Christmas decorations." After coming up with that fun idea Michalik found himself wrestling with how to make his yard stand out.
Then he had a light bulb moment and knew exactly what to do. He decided to mix his love of the Christmas holiday with his love of a popular Christmas movie, 'A Christmas Story.' It wasn't just enough to have traditional Christmas lights, instead this man built a 20-foot recreation of lamp from the movie. In A Youtube video Michalik explains, "You're looking at an exact scale replica of the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. It is 420% bigger than the one that appears in the movie, so it's 20 feet tall."
He claimed that the idea came to him after a night of restless sleep. To create this incredible 20-foot recreation of lamp he used "14-inch fringe and gold netting." It looks incredible, and Michalik is not the only one who is enjoying it.
He shared that many parents walk by with their kids and when their child doesn't understand the reference their parents get excited to take them home and encourage them to watch it. 'A Christmas Story' is about to make a comeback with popularity! Michalik definitely accomplished his mission of spreading holiday cheer, all while reliving the best moments of his childhood.
He brought the best of the 80s and the best Christmas spirit. I cannot wait to see what epiphany he has next year.
