Adam Levine Disses Blake Shelton On 'The Voice': "Hey Stupid"

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, the friendly rivalry that will seemingly never end. The Maroon 5 frontman almost acts as the country crooner's nagging little brother during their run together on The Voice. However, eventually, both of them walk away from the show and we don't get to see their strong chemistry on TV anymore. Nowadays, Adam continues to push Shelton's buttons now that he's back coaching on the show where it all started.

Recently, Levine secured Trevon Dawson for his ranks on The Voice. He secures the country artist after countless seasons of failing to pick one up on the show beforehand. Shelton would always stand victorious, blocking Adam from getting anyone aspiring for Nashville. As a veteran within the industry, he had a distinct advantage. Now, with him out of the way, the pop star is as excited as ever to try his hand at coaching a country artist.

Adam Levine Jokes at Blake Shelton After Finally Securing a Country Singer on The Voice

Adam immediately highlights the potential of picking up Trevon Dawson for his lineup of singers. With country music on the rise, he sees the potential for his 17-year-old prospect to thrive. "Trevon was the perfect person to round out team Adam," Levine says. "He has one of these young country voices that I hear a lot. You listen to the guys that are killing it right now in country music, and I think he can do it. I can't wait to coach country. We're gonna kick ass."

However, Adam also admits that he's a bit of a novice within the country world. Consequently, he might have to call on his friend and television rival to show him the ropes. "I'm going to call my friend Blake Shelton, and I'm going to be like, 'Hey stupid. Help me,'" Levine quips.

Kelsea Ballerini believes that the Songs About Jane superstar hit a home run, filling out his final roster spot. Moreover, she sees the irony in Levine finally securing a country prospect after Blake Shelton boxing him out of contention for years. "There is one spot left for this season, and it's Adam. He is tough because Blake has broken his heart over and over again. That's a long time of loving a genre that you just can't get to do because of Blake," Kelsea says.
