Adam Levine makes his triumphant return to The Voice after 11 seasons. Originally, he left back in season 16 in 2019 when the lineup included Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and the newly added John Legend at the time. Now, he's replacing Reba McEntire and joining Michael Bublé, John Legend, and Kelsea Ballerini. But why did he leave in the first place? Now, he finally addressing that departure.

Recently, Levine spoke with PEOPLE Magazine ahead of his return to The Voice. There, he talks about his time away and why now was finally the right time. "I honestly feel like the stars aligned. It was one of those moments where we started talking about it and it felt right... and it hadn't felt right until now," Adam explains.
Adam Levine Explains Why He Originally Left The Voice
Ultimately, the Maroon 5 frontman's decision to take his leave from The Voice was simple. The grind of doing the show for nine seasons really started to wear on him. Leaving the NBC singing competition allowed for Levine to really knuckle down and do his first passion in music. "Doing it for so long, so consistently, for almost eight or nine years of my life, you can definitely start to get burnt," Adam admits. "I did it for this really long period of time so I started to feel like I was kind of getting away from things that matter to me the most, like making music and playing music."
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Blake Shelton comes back and they start up their relationship as frenemies. I'm sure they'll bicker plenty ever since Levine took over the country singer's chair. Regardless, we'll see how long Adam sticks around after this rendition of the show with Legend, Bublé, and Ballerini.
