It's been six months since Conner Smith stepped away from his country music career after his involvement in a traffic accident that killed 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins.

The "I Hate Alabama" singer was issued a misdemeanor citation for failing to yield, resulting in a fatality. This was classified as a traffic violation rather than a criminal offense, as Smith showed no intent to cause harm.
He has stepped into the spotlight occasionally, including for a performance at the Grand Ole Opry on July 30. But he has mostly kept to himself in the months following the accident.
However, he has recently been uploading unreleased music on YouTube. He also came out with the song "Ain't Got Enough Faith" last month.
But this week, Smith shared on the podcast The Upload With Brooke Taylor that he isn't setting a timeline for his return to his country music career. He's left that job to a higher power.
Conner Smith Says God Is Setting the Timetable
Fans have been clamoring for Smith to put out new music. But he is only listening to one voice to tell him when that moment will be.
"There's been so many people asking me, 'Man, when are you gonna get back and post on socials? Put out music again," he said. "...And it's like, 'When God tells me to.'"
He believes that moment is coming "really soon." But he makes it clear that the timing is up to God, not anyone else.
"I'm just living in such a place of peace, and such a place of overflow and the spirit of the Lord," he added.
Smith Also Shared What He's Learned This Year on Instagram
Smith also shared on social media last week the lessons he's learned in the past year. It's pretty lengthy, so we'll share the highlights.
- Community is all that matters.
"In the highest highs and the lowest lows, the people you have there for you in both are all that truly matters in the end." - True peace is completely unrelated to circumstances.
"Even when chaos seems to come from every side, true peace is in knowing that the promises of God will always remain and always be upheld." - Unless the Lord builds a house, the workers labor in vain.
"So many times in my life, I have tried to make my plans and then ask God to approve them, thinking I was in charge of planning out my life. I realized this year that it is only in full and total surrender of my desires that the plans of God could be fully realized." - Suffering through the eyes of His kindness.
"It is only in suffering, trials, and hardship that real growth comes."
