Aftyn Behn is currently on the campaign trail to replace Republican Congressman Mark Green and hopes to represent Tennessee's 7th congressional district. However, the Democrat recently came under scrutiny when a clip surfaced on social media.
In the clip, Behn, who was appearing on the "Year Old GRITS" podcast back in 2020, goes on a short rant about why she hates Nashville.
"I hate the city, I hate the bachelorettes, I hate the pedal taverns, I hate country music, I hate all of the things that make Nashville," Behn said. I hate it."
That clip will likely be a difficult one to navigate for Behn and her campaign. It's difficult to get people to vote for you when they know you can't stand anything about their city or way of life. However, Behn has sought to win back some goodwill by defending herself on social media.
"Today, the Republicans decided that they're going to start this narrative that I, the state representative who represents downtown Nashville, don't like the city," Behn wrote. "Sure, I get mad at the bachelorettes sometimes. I get mad at the pedal taverns, right? You're talking to somebody who has cried no less than 10 times in the Country Music Hall of Fame. The girl who just goes to the Ryman to hang out. No, no, we're not even gonna go there."
