Hollywood Superstar Makes Interesting Decision Regarding Future Roles: “I’m Not Trying To Compete With 25-Year-Old Leading Men”

George Clooney is no spring chicken, and for that reason, he's ruling out any kissing scenes when filming future movies.

George Clooney has decided that he will no longer be kissing girls when filming movies. The Ocean's Eleven star explained his decision during a recent interview with The Daily Mail.

"I've been trying to go the route Paul Newman did... 'Okay, well, I'm not kissing a girl anymore,'" Clooney said. "When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, 'Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I'm in shape. But in 25 years, I'm 85 years old. It doesn't matter how many granola bars you eat, that's a real number.'"

With his own mortality becoming more of a realization, Clooney understands that his role on the big screen is going to change. As such, so will the parts he plays.

"Look, I'm 63 years old. I'm not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men," he said during an interview on 60 Minutes. "That's not my job. I'm not doing romantic films anymore."

Clooney was arguably Hollywood's biggest heartthrob during the early 2000s. Many would argue that he's aged like fine wine. However, there's no doubt that his decision makes sense, especially as he's unlikely to be in a leading role with an actress near his own age.

George Clooney and Wife Amal Granted French Citizenship

Removing himself from "kissing" on screen is just one big decision Clooney has made in recent months. According to CNN, the Hollywood superstar and his wife, Amal, have been granted French citizenship after becoming concerned about raising their children in Los Angeles.

"Growing up in Kentucky, all I wanted to do was get away from a farm, get away from that life," Clooney told the New York Times. "Now I find myself back in that life. I drive a tractor and all those things. It's the best chance of a normal life."

Clooney and his family still have homes in Los Angeles and England. However, they will now make France their most prominent country of residence.

"I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood," Clooney said. "I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France - they kind of don't give a s--t about fame," he told Esquire.

As he enters the latter stage of his life, Clooney is clearly looking to slow down. And there's no better place to take your foot off the gas than France, where life moves a little slower. Of course, he will still spend time in the United States when filming movies.

Just don't expect any kissing scenes.
