The Emotional Moment Alan Jackson Got Teary-Eyed During One Of His Last Concerts Ever

Alan Jackson is finally packing it in. The beloved country music legend is ending his touring days. Per Whiskey Riff, he "is on the final few shows of his Last Call: One More For The Road Tour, which will be his final tour." It must be a very sad milestone for the performer. He has drawn enthused crowds to his shows nationwide for decades.

Per the outlet, Jackson, 66, said, "I've been touring for over 30 years - my daughters are all grown, we have one grandchild and one on the way...and I'm enjoying spending more time at home. But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I'm going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call."

Health Issues Have Compelled Alan Jackson To Stop Touring

A while back, Jackson announced that he has a serious condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, it is a progressive genetic problem that can cause a range of symptoms like balance issues, weakness in the legs, hands, or feet, muscle cramps, and other physical challenges.

A dollar from each ticket that is purchased for Jackson's tour is going to the CMT Research Foundation. "In addition, a group of CMTRF donors and board members will match $1 for each ticket."

He Let His Feelings Show Recently When He Performed 'Drive' In Orlando, Florida

Jackson penned the song following the passing of his dad. It conjures thoughts of Jackson's youth and abiding interest in autos, which his father encouraged. It's understandably an emotional song for him to do. That, coupled with him bringing down the curtain soon on his amazing touring career, evidently got the better of Jackson.

He explained, "This is a song I wrote quite a few years ago when my daddy passed away. I wanted to write a song for him; I didn't want to write some old crying-dying typical kind of thing, you know? When I started thinking about growing up, all I ever wanted to do was drive something. He taught me all about that. That's what this song is about."

At one point while singing "Drive," Jackson seemed overcome with emotion. He faced away from the mic, trying to get a grip on his brimming feelings. It's sad for us too to have him leave the concert stage for good.

Alan Jackson will always be known for his exceptional singing and songwriting, but also for being one of the classiest people ever in country music.
