TMZ reported that Colin Stough, who placed third in American Idol season 21, was involved in a single-vehicle car crash on I-840 East near the 37-mile marker in Williamson County. Authorities responded to the scene early Friday.
Stough, 20, was driving drunk. He was taken into custody and booked. The outlet reported that he was charged with DUI, underage consumption of alcohol, and failure to exercise due care. Any injuries he sustained were not passed along to the outlet.
Apparently, he has since been bailed out. Stough recorded himself walking to his motorcycle and posted it to his Instagram story, so he appears to be in fine health. Or, at least, he's since recovered from any injuries inflicted.
TMZ reported that he was taken to hospital before being booked.
Colin Stough Hasn't Spoken Out About The Crash Or Charge
The fan-favorite American Idol runner-up has since posted to his Instagram. It appears that he doesn't want to broach the subject with his fans, wishing to ignore it instead.
However, Stough did post on Friday, the day of the crash. A video of his singing was uploaded, with the caption, "I'm not perfect and will never claim to be. But I will admit when I'm wrong and that's a fact." Is this a way of accepting responsibility for the reckless act? Or an ironic coincidence?
Some fans hit his comments to talk about the report. "Please learn from this because it could have been a devastating lesson. Thank God you didn't hurt yourself, but much more importantly, you didn't hurt anyone one else," commented one.
Needless to say, the accident could have become a bloody incident involving others. He's extremely lucky.
The outlet reached out to Colin Stough, and they've received no response. It does appear that a post vaguely suggesting wrongdoing is all we'll get about the incident.
Stough appeared on the 2023 season of American Idol. Although he finished third, may fans expressed they thought he should win. Since then, he's been releasing new music and EPs on a semi-regular basis. He has yet to release anything this year, although says that new songs are in the works.
