Angie Stone, a Grammy nominated singer and songwriter, has sadly died. She passed away during the early hours of Saturday.

The musician died in a car crash following a performance in Montgomery, Alabama. At the time, she had been on the way to the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore. That's when she sadly perished. The singer was 63 years old.
"Angie Stone's voice and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched," a statement from her spokeswoman read. She is survived by her son Michael, daughter Diamond, and two grandchildren.
Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed released a statement following the accident. He remembered Angie Stone as a trailblazer.
"Montgomery joins the music world in mourning the loss of Angie Stone, a trailblazer whose voice and artistry shaped generations. From her groundbreaking start with The Sequence to her soulful contributions to R&B and neo-soul, Ms. Stone's impact on music and culture was undeniable.
"Her voice carried the weight of history, blending gospel roots with a modern sound that resonated across generations. Hits like Wish I Didn't Miss You and Brotha weren't just songs; they are anthems that speak to love, struggle, and resilience.
"We honor her legacy and send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans worldwide. Montgomery was proud to have hosted her talents, and her influence will live on in the music she gave us all."

Likewise, the Mobile Mardi Gras Association also mourned the artist as well.

"Angie's performance at the 2025 Grand Marshal's Ball was nothing short of phenomenal. Her talent captivated everyone in attendance, and her presence truly elevated the event. Never could we have imagined that it would be the last time we would have the honor of witnessing her perform. The news of her passing has left us all deeply saddened, and we will always cherish the memories of her incredible talent and warm spirit.
