After its announcement of plans to shut 144 locations across the US, Wendy's shuts down 12 in Michigan. This comes amid the financial struggle hitting many businesses across the US, especially hammering fast food chains. As people take a step back from ultra-processed foods and start cooking themselves to save money, companies like Wendy's struggle.

The news of the various Michigan locations shutting down comes from their removal from the site. This signals their eventual closure, but the final dates are not yet known. However, it has been confirmed that at least two of the outlets are located in Adrian and Tecumseh, Michigan.

Recently, Wendy's has announced the planned closure of 144 restaurant locations across the US. This is in an attempt to streamline and consolidate under growing financial struggle across US businesses.

Why Is Wendy's Closing Locations Down?

Across the US, the economic landscape is changing. More people are ordering their shopping online, causing many stores to close their doors. And, now, more people than ever are choosing to eat at home. Fast food is more expensive than ever, and paychecks aren't able to keep up with inflation. Folks simply aren't as well off as they once were. In an interesting turn of events, poverty may end up actually making people healthier.

However, a spokesperson for Wendy's has reassured people that the closed locations are nothing to worry about. "As a 55-year-old brand with more than 7,100 locations across the globe, closures are a normal activity to maintain a high-performing system." Often, a business has to shut the doors on a few spots simply due to them no longer hitting targets.

Wendy's promises to replace the closed locations with more successful, and updated stores. In many cases, it is easier to simply shut a shop and sell it than do a full overhaul. Refurbishments are expensive, and buying an empty lot and starting again can often be a better financial decision.
