The Belgian dance mega-festival, the world's largest, was slated to begin on Friday, July 18. The lineup for the 19th edition of the event includes Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, David Guetta, Hardwell, Nervo, John Summit, Fisher, Amelie Lens, Alok, Agents of Time, Miss Monique, and The Blessed Madonna.
Everyone's Safety Is the Top Concern
In footage shared on Wednesday, July 16, by the Belgian news station VRT NWS, flames were swallowing the festival's largest gathering area. There are also pictures of vast clouds of smoke rising from the site.
The station also reports that emergency services are on site. Police spokesperson Joris Van Camp said in a statement that officials are being "given maximum space to do their work. People's safety is our top priority. We advise people experiencing odor nuisance to close their windows and doors and stay out of the smoke."
In a statement given to Billboard, festival representatives say that no one was injured during the catastrophic event. While some event staff were present, no attendees were on site, and the festival had not yet begun.
Tomorrowland Will Go On
The message also stated that DreamVille, the festival's campsite, will open on Thursday, July 17, as planned. Activities related to the event located in Brussels and Antwerp will proceed as planned. Organizers are "focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday - Saturday - Sunday). More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible."
Like most festivals nowadays, Tomorrowland 2025 is scheduled to take place over two weekends. The first weekend runs until Sunday, July 20. The second weekend is expected to take place between July 25-27.
