Yes, You Can Spend the Night in This Giant Potato

The state of Idaho has always been known for potatoes. French fries, tater tots, curly fries, potato pancakes, you name it. For a while, the Idaho Potato Commission toured around a giant potato country-wide to promote the spuds. Now, the giant potato has been totally transformed into an Airbnb rental, complete with everything you need to enjoy a potato vacation.

Back in 2012, the Idaho Potato Commission created the Big Idaho Potato Truck to celebrate the 75th-anniversary of the commission. The giant potato was only scheduled to tour for a year, however, the tater became so popular it toured for six years before it was decommissioned and a newer potato was built. 

Once replaced, the commission had no idea what to do with the 6-ton steel spud. They ultimately reached out to Kristie Wolfe, who builds tiny houses. And she completely transformed the giant potato.

Located in Boise, the Big Idaho Potato Hotel is surrounded by 400 acres of farmland. From the outside, it looks like a giant potato, but step inside and you'll find a queen-size bed, two chairs, wood flooring, a beverage cooler, an indoor fireplace, and even an elk antler chandelier. The property even features a separate bathroom complete with a hot tub. And don't worry about feeling like a hot potato, the entire room is air-conditioned.

The hotel is currently open for reservations starting at $200 a night. It is located about 25 southeast of Boise, making it the perfect destination for people who want to get out of the city for a little bit and experience the scenery of the Owyhee mountains.

Just be sure you aren't claustrophobic. This hotel room has no windows and is only 336 square feet. But hey, when's the last time you stayed the night in a vegetable?
