Bill Murray stands up for his late friend and SNL alum John Belushi over Watergate reporter Bob Woodward's book about him titled Wired.

Recently, the two crossed paths at the book signing, where they reportedly exchanged 'tense' words with one another. However, Bill doesn't simply stop there. Now, he's doubling down on why he didn't like what he read.
Murray appeared on an episode of the Joe Rogan podcast. There, he addresses the intense exchange between himself and Woodward. In his typical fashion, he sarcastically dismisses the book entirely, shrugging it off as amateur for such a highly respected journalist. "I read like five pages of 'Wired,' and I went, 'Oh my God. They framed Nixon,'" Bill tells Rogan.
Bill Murray Slams Latest Book from Bob Woodward About John Belushi
Ultimately, the Groundhog Day actor feels like Woodward's book couldn't possibly hold any weight in the grand scheme of things. Apparently, Bob only tackled Belushi's life from a distance, not engaging with anyone close to him. Without that frame of reference, Bill believes he couldn't truly tell John's story. "If this is what he writes about my friend that I've known, you know, for half of my adult life, which is completely inaccurate, talking to like, the people of the outer, outer circle, getting the story," Murray explains. "What the hell could they have done to Nixon?"
"You're telling me that that guy over there, that guy who's that far away from the center of things, is telling you the facts about John Belushi? That guy way the f-k over there is telling you who John Belushi is?" Murray continues. "I acknowledge I only read five pages, but the five pages I read made me want to set fire to the whole thing. He's gonna have to answer for that sometime."
It's hard not to understand where Bill Murray is coming from here. There's only so much you can really account for when writing about someone from a distance. It's lousy, and Bob doesn't really do his due diligence as a writer pulling that off.
