Blake Shelton is one day away from launching his Friends & Heroes Tour. The Oklahoma native admits he has a complicated relationship with life on the road, both loving the performing and hating the time away.

"The main thing that I look forward to these days, and I guess honestly I always have, is my live performances," Shelton tells WKML. "And even though I'm the first to say that, too much time on the road can wear me down. Too much time away from the road can break my heart."
Shelton also divides his time between his Oklahoma ranch and time in Los Angeles. He gladly lives in two places thanks to his marriage to Gwen Stefani.
"She comes to Oklahoma, and it's not like this now. But at first, she had to have felt like 'Where am I? What is this place?'" Shelton says. "This is not how she grew up, and the same goes for me. I'd go to LA, and it's like, 'What is this place? How do I fit in here?' And I would still feel that way if she wasn't there."
Blake Shelton's Friends & Heroes Tour
Shelton will be joined on his Friends & Heroes Tour by Trace Adkins, Deana Carter, Craig Morgan and Emily Ann Roberts.
"The Friends & Heroes Tour is one of my favorite tours because as a fan, I can't think of a cooler concert to see," Shelton says of the tour. "I get spoiled every night seeing these icons come out and do four or five of the biggest hits of their careers."
Although Shelton has headlined plenty of tours throughout his lengthy career, he admits the Friends & Heroes Tour is his favorite. It was his manager who suggested Shelton hit the road again, which he agreed to, but only with this format.
"I said, 'Well, man, I got to be honest,'" Shelton recalls to American Songwriter. "I got spoiled on the Friends & Heroes thing because, as a fan, I can't think of a cooler concert to go to than you're buying a ticket and you're getting to see four or five artists in one night. Then when the main show starts, you're not only getting to see four artists, but you're getting to see them do biggest hits."
Shelton's tour begins on February 27 in Lexington, Kentucky.
