Recently, Shelton appeared on an episode of TODAY with Hoda & Jenna where Hoda's cohost quips, "Hoda was in love with you for many years. I think she's let that go, but she still adores you and I know you adore her." Lots of blushing fills the room and Hoda doesn't shy away from this fact. Blake mostly laughs this off and remains grateful for the time they spent together on the show. Additionally, he reveals a hilarious story where Hoda was ducking and dodging him at a party.

Blake recalls a party in the home of country music, Nashville where the two cross paths. For a minute there, Shelton thought it was their time, though he obviously keeps it vague as to what that fully means. ""It's funny, too, that you talked about Hoda saying I was her first love or whatever. I did run into her in Nashville one time, off camera, it had nothing to do with television or anything. And I thought it was going to be our moment. But she completely ran away from me. I mean, she ran away from me like totally afraid of me," Blake says.
Hoda is visibly taken aback, gasping in shock and clearly not remembering the night. But Shelton doubles down and recalls her specifically yelling, "I gotta go!" Hoda admits she had probably been drinking that night, who knows how much. Jenna tries pushing buttons a little bit, prodding the hot moment until they all collectively drop it. The time frame of this story remains a little unclear but it's definitely pre Gwen Stefani, as Blake and Jenna emphasizes. Poor Hoda though, let those nerves or the drinks get to her.
