Bobby Flay Pays Tribute To Anne Burrell After Tragic Passing

Anne Burrell's sudden, shocking death this week absolutely rocked the culinary world. A beloved star on the Food Network, her ebullient personality, love of cooking, and signature platinum blonde hair distinguished her. She was a true original who was deeply respected and valued by her countless fans and her fellow culinary professionals.

Burrell died on Tuesday, June 17 in her New York home at the age of 55. The cause of her death has not yet been officially determined.

One of her colleagues, Bobby Flay, crafted a warm tribute to Burrell for introducing him to something he now cherishes. Hint: it's not food-related.

Bobby Flay Posted Fondly About Anne Burrell On Social Media

Per pagesix.com, Flay wrote about Burrell on Instagram. He posted, "The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)... a gift that I'll have forever." Nacho is Flay's precious pet kitty.

He added, "Worst Cooks in America was the funniest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside for the Anne Burrell ride."

There is also a snap of her holding two of her own gorgeous Maine Coon felines.

He Wrote Lovingly About His Cat Nacho Just Days Earlier

Flay wrote about his cat recently on Instagram, along with posting a playful video of himself with the pet. He posted, "The recipe for Made by Nacho: Take one chef, add lifelong cat obsession, simmer for decades. This is what cat-dad-since-forever looks like. Happy Father's Day to all the cat dads."

The 'Food Network' Also Honored Her With A Touching Message

Anne Burrell was a fan favorite on the Food Network. She was caringly remembered by the Network in a sweet post on Instagram. "We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning. Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent - teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss."

Fans Recalled Burrell With Affection

Some of her fans went on social media to leave their thoughts. Many offered sincere compliments about her as an individual and as a culinary expert.

Wrote one, "Anne was my teacher in culinary school and an amazing chef and person. Thinking about her family."

Noted another, "This is heartbreaking. Trail blazer for all of us female chefs. Her Sass was an inspiration. Sleep peacefully xxx"

And from yet a third, "In shock...condolences to her family and food family."
