Marcus Scribner is trading laughs for badges. That's because the black-ish star has joined the cast of Boston Blue, the upcoming CBS drama and official spinoff of the long-running series Blue Bloods, according to Variety.

Scribner will portray Jonah Silver, a rookie cop navigating the expectations of his law enforcement family, and the pressures of a city that doesn't wait for rookies to catch up.
Per CBS, Jonah is "the youngest member of the Silver family and is in law enforcement like his mother and sisters, each of whom is formidable in their own ways. Always the cool kid growing up, Jonah carries himself with confidence and swagger in all situations, so he's naturally frustrated at being a rookie cop on the sidelines of the city's biggest investigations."
Wahlberg Fronts 'Boston' Spinoff
Scribner joins series lead Donnie Wahlberg, who reprises his role as Detective Danny Reagan. In the new series, Reagan leaves New York and takes a new post with the Boston Police Department. His new partner is the daughter of another prominent law enforcement family, signaling more family-focused dynamics similar to the original show.
Also announced for the cast are Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Maggie Lawson.
Boston Blue is created by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, who also serve as executive producers and showrunners. Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Wahlberg also serve as executive producers.
Scribner's Career Expands
Audiences best know Scribner for his role as Junior on ABC's black-ish, which ran from 2014 to 2022. He also starred in the Freeform spinoff grown-ish from 2019 to 2024 and appeared on mixed-ish from 2019 to 2020. His performance earned him two NAACP Image Awards and widespread acclaim.
Beyond sitcoms, Scribner's credits include The Good Dinosaur, Young Jedi Adventures, How I Learned to Fly, Dragons: The Nine Realms, The F**k-It List, Merry Like This, and Along for the Ride.
Premiere Remains a Mystery
CBS has not yet announced a premiere date for Boston Blue. However, the network has confirmed the series will debut later this year as part of its 2025-26 primetime lineup. It will air Fridays at 10 p.m. ET, taking over the longtime Blue Bloods time slot.
Blue Bloods wrapped its 14-season run in December 2024. For fans looking to catch up, all episodes are currently streaming on Paramount+. Scribner's black-ish and its spinoffs can be viewed in full on Hulu.
