Brooks & Dunn never have to make another album again if they don't want to do it. Their last two Reboot records were still a massive hit with fans. The pair still thrives at award shows. They can coast off of covering their old classics again with some of the new generation of country stars and do some concerts. But can they still put out something original? Their last original record Cowboy Town was back in 2007. Could they ever knock off the rust and do something new? They think so, and they aren't alone either.

Recently, Brooks & Dunn spoke with Billboard after winning the ACM Diamond Chairman's Award. It's a piece of hardware that honors their impact on the country through music and humanitarian work alike. It proves that they aren't just artists, but people trying to make a difference in the world, too. In addition to discussing what that meant to them, the publication pesters for what we all want to know. Will the iconic duo ever get together in the studio for new material?
Brooks & Dunn Tease The Idea of Recording New Material
Apparently, they've toyed with the idea over time. Moreover, their new label heads at Sony, chairman/CEO Hilary Lindsey and president/COO Ken Robold, want to see what they have left in the tank. Kix feels like they can crank another record out. However, they don't want to sacrifice legacy for a record that may not reach their personal standards. Ultimately, Brooks references another music legend when it comes to the matter.
"We're kicking along. We're working on it, we're pushing that row. We've got a label that we had a really great meeting with. They can't make us make a record, but they would love to see us do it. They don't want to put out a record that's not a great record," Brooks says. "He's not a country artist, but I love quoting Billy Joel. He said 'I haven't made a new record in [32] years and it's working quite well.'"
As for Ronnie Dunn, he firmly believes they can make another home run record, and he has the fire to execute on it, too. "I still think we have the juice to be able to sell a new one. I just want to put one more through the goal posts," he says.
