Bruce Springsteen Trashes Trump Administration During His First Tour Stop

People have a very common misconception about Bruce Springsteen. Some listen to "Born in the USA" and immediately assume that he's a fervent republican. That distinct pride in his country usually comes with a hefty dose of conservatism. However, this couldn't be further from the truth for the rock legend. Instead, he loves his country so much that he dares to criticize it and call out its failures. Consequently, Springsteen deeply rejects conservative rhetoric in his music and has made his political allegiances abundantly clear.

So when the rockstar speaks out against President Donald Trump and his current administration, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Recently, the "Born to Run" singer performed his first show for his Land of Hopes and Dreams Tour in Manchester, England. There, one concertgoer captured him righteously speaking about the current state of affairs back home in America.

Bruce Springsteen Calls Trump Administration 'Incompetent' and 'Treasonous'

"The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll, in dangerous times," Springsteen tells the crowd. "In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration. Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against the authoritarianism, and let freedom ring."

Then, Springsteen launches into a performance of "Land of Hopes and Dreams," where he portrays a perseverant America. "Dreams will not be thwarted/ Faith will be rewarded/ Hear the steel wheels singing/ Bells of freedom ringing," he sings.

Given his Kamala Harris endorsement during his last election, it's clear he hasn't had a change of heart.
