Car Thief Steals Rolls Royce, Immediately Drives It Through Checker's Drive-Thru

Committing crime really works up an appetite. At least that is what it looks like for this car thief in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Shortly after stealing a Rolls Royce from a nearby beach resort, the car thief drives it straight through a Checker's drive thru. I guess he was really hungry, because he decided to skip the line and drive straight through the building.

I am sure when Malik Patterson hopped behind the wheel of the Rolls Royce he stole, he had a different sort of joy ride in mind. Most likely one that didn't end with crashing or french fries. However, given how his night ended up I am sure he wouldn't mind the french fries over the other outcome.

Shortly after stealing the vehicle, Patterson lost control. This loss of control sent him spiraling towards a nearby Checkers on Broward Boulevard, according to the NY Post. Images of the scene show the car collide head on with the drive through window.

Although the fast-food restaurant was open, none of the employees were harmed in the crash. The restaurant owner told WTVJ that they were not surprised by the theft. They stated, " I'm definitely not shocked. It is a Rollys-Royce and people like to steal things and do a little bit of a joy ride."

While the owner may not be surprised by the theft I am sure they were surprised by the car thief and Rolls Royce plowing through their drive thru window. Very short-lived joy ride if you ask me.

Life After The Drive Thru

After this car thief took the Rolls Royce and crashed it into a drive thru his night went from joy-ride to instant regret. Not only did he nearly wreck the car, that "typically sells upwards of $400,0000 and can top off at $500,000" but he caused considerable damage to the Checker's building.

Not to mention that he was also taken into custody by local law enforcement. He was slapped with grand theft auto charges and is now awaiting his court appearance. Furthermore, it seems that this latest incident was not Patterson's only run in with the law.

The NY Post shares that he also has outstanding warrants in Florida and California. Turns out the road to crime doesn't have a happy ending.
