Vocal Strain Is Usually Characterized By Certain Symptoms

You don't have to be a professional singer like Pearce to experience vocal strain. According to mountsinai.org, the condition can be characterized by a feeling of soreness when you talk, hoarseness, muscle strain in the throat, or throat tenderness. Giving your voice a break for a while helps. If vocal discomfort continues, seeing a doctor may be in order.

Carly Pearce Has Previously Had Other Health Concerns

She Has A Heart Condition Called Pericarditis

The "Never Wanted To Be That Girl" singer has grappled with health concerns before. Per People, Pearce was diagnosed with a heart condition called pericarditis last year. Per the outlet via the Mayo Clinic, it "is swelling and irritation of the thin, sac-like tissue surrounding the heart." Symptoms may include a slight fever, palpitations, a cough, pain in the chest, tiredness, feeling short of breath, and swollen feet or legs.

According to the outlet via Today, Pearce described her symptoms. "I had a really debilitating chest pain that was only relieved if I bent over like this (leaning forward), and that's a classic symptom of pericarditis. And then when you lay back, it gets way worse, because that wall is kind of inflamed around your heart. I just had a really intense shortness of breath."

Pearce claimed that doctors discounted her symptoms at first. She exhorts people to speak up for themselves when dealing with medical professionals. They should also always heed the signals of their bodies, she mentioned.
