Lap-Band Surgery Described

According to Yale Medicine, "Gastric band surgery is a procedure during which surgeons encircle the upper portion of the stomach with a soft, flexible band that restricts the amount of food that can enter the stomach." Because people eat less food after this procedure, they lose weight.

Wilson Had Complications

She knew something was badly amiss when she experienced swelling. "I had some swelling in the legs that kept getting worse. Needed to go back into the hospital because of high blood pressure. It was very scary, but after a couple of days there, we changed the meds. And the swelling has gone down and, like, almost gone. I am finally over this hump, recovering from my lap-band surgery, lap-band removal."

Wilson said that "they found an ulcer in there." In addition, "They actually found an obstruction with food inside the lap band."

Learning about what the problem was "makes me want to barf," Wilson acknowledged. "I'm so grateful right now and so lucky." She added, "It really put a new perspective on some health things for me. So I'm recovering. It's going great, and I love you guys and I appreciate if anybody had said any prayers or anything, so thank you and ... on the mend!"

She Has Faced Weight Loss Challenges

Twenty-six years ago, Wilson underwent gastric bypass surgery. Lap-band surgery followed that. Per the outlet via People, she shed 45 pounds by not eating gluten and sugar.

Losing Her Dad Was Very Traumatic

Brian Wilson died on June 11 at age 82, nine days shy of his birthday. Carnie was devastated by the loss. Per the outlet via Instagram, she heartbreakingly posted in part, "I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now. My Father @brianwilsonlive was every fiber of my body. He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always."
