Underwood is one of the biggest names in country music right now, and that is in large part due to her instantly recognizable voice. Taking care to protect those vocals is key to staying on top. Her voice is her trademark.

Singing can be a real strain over time, especially when touring as much as she does. In the past, vocalists who haven't taken care have damaged what makes them money. However, Carrie Underwood has her methods of making sure her voice is always in top form.

"First and foremost," she begins, talking to CMT, "Just taking care of myself overall is the most important thing I could do." She goes on to say that "food and drink and eating healthy and exercising" are how she ensures that the Carrie Underwood voice we love so much is always on point.

Carrie Underwood Could Do More to Save Her Voice

Although she eats healthy and makes sure she lives a healthy lifestyle, Carrie Underwood knows she can do more to protect her valuable voice. "I am pretty bad at everything else," she admits. "I am bad with warm-ups, and cool-downs, and I'll drink caffeine." But, hey, shes only human right? She needs to live a little.

This being said many of the most famous singers in the world don't take the best care of their voices. Jazz musicians of a bygone era were prolific smokers, and Katy Perry is often seen with a cigarette in hand. Amy Winehouse was a famous smoker, and she is one of the most iconic singers of her generation.

However, Carrie Underwood isn't about to start threatening her voice with smoking, drinking, or other hazards. For now, she is happy to protect it by staying healthy, eating well, and sleeping as often as touring allows.

For someone like her, being on the top of her game is essential. She is a mother and an internationally recognized country artist. To lose her voice would be devastating.
