Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan will star in the Sam Mendes-directed films about the Fab Four, which are scheduled to be released in 2028.

An ambitious film project about the Fab Four should change all that. Director Sam Mendes, the filmmaker behind American Beauty and Skyfall, is currently working on a four-film biopic about the influential group.

Fans of The Beatles have been wondering about the project since it was announced in 2024. Their curiosity was satisfied today when the first images featuring the films' stars were released. We have the details below.

Who Is Starring in The Beatles' Films?

When The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event was first announced, the first question people asked was who would portray the legendary musicians.

Paul Mescal, who headlined 2024's Gladiator II, has been cast as Paul McCartney. John Lennon will be played by Harris Dickinson. Saltburn's Barry Keoghan will step behind the kit as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison.

The four films will each tell the story of the Beatles from their individual points of view. Each movie will also intersect for what Mendes calls the "first singable theatrical experience."

This is the first time that The Beatles and its company, Apple Corps Ltd., have granted the life rights and music for a feature film.

"I'm honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies," Mendes said in a statement, as reported by PEOPLE

Do the Actors Look Like The Beatles?

The images debuted on Instagram this morning, Jan. 30.

Mescal does bear a strong resemblance to a young McCartney, complete with his signature mop top. The shot of Keoghan as Starr nails down the drummer's general vibe. One commenter noted that Quinn bears more of a resemblance to the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl than to Harrison.

Dickinson, as the long-haired Lennon, looks like perfect casting.

Also starring in the film will be Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Mia McKenna Bruce as Ringo's wife, Maureen Starkey, Aimee Lou Wood as Harrison's first wife, Pattie Boyd, and Anna Sawai as Lennon's second wife, Yoko Ono.

All four films are scheduled to be in theaters in April 2028.
