It's always sad to see an iconic duo like Cheech and Chong have a falling out that mars their wonderful on-screen relationship. However, they had a disagreement that cast a shadow over their professional comedy career for quite some time. Even now, it seems, Cheech and Chong can't agree on what went wrong.

The two of them directed four movies together, bringing stoner humor to the world like never before. However, in their new documentary titled Cheech & Chong's Last Movie, they go over a few of their professional disagreements. One of the real points of contention is who deserves the rights to which title.
Despite the two of them both being listed as directors, Cheech never thought Chong carried his weight in the role. Speaking on their directorial capabilities, they talk about the falling out it caused. Cheech began by saying, "Well, you always were the director." But Chong responded by saying that "You never earned it. You can't say, 'Because I was there with the other that directed, I should be a director.'"
But this was a statement that didn't sit right with Cheech. He pulls it up by asking Chong if he thinks he directed as much as him on the sets. "No. No, never," Chong replied. But Cheech calls him a liar, put out by being told he was never as much as a director. Chong asks him if it is a lie, all things considered.
"Of course, it's a lie. I directed just as much as you did in the movie. You know, when we had to... This isn't really worth going into," he responds. The two old men lapse into silence, ruminating on their past and their long-distant falling out.
Old Disagreements Die Hard
Such a long and professional relationship was always going to foster a few elements of ill will in Cheech and Chong. So many years, so many drugs, and so many challenges between the two haven't gone without their challenges. But, they say they're on good terms now.
Speaking about the end to their feud, Cheech and Chong spoke about its end. "When we first got back together, there was still a lot of animosity, and it persisted for a while. But eventually it kind of waned." Cheech said. But I think Chong summed it up perfectly. "He's like a wife that, thank God, I don't have to go to bed with," he said in a clip from a vintage interview in their new documentary.
