Till Death Do Us Part certainly doesn't mean what it used to. After Cher married Greg Allman mere days after her previous marriage dissolved, she was already filing for divorce nine days later.

Speaking in her book The Memoir, Part One, Cher laid it all out, including her reasoning behind her rash decisions. According to her, Cher was already embroiled in a relationship with Gregg Allman when she was getting a divorce from Sonny Bono.
Despite her reservations about Allman, she knew she needed to get married. Talking to People magazine, she spoke about her pregnancy with the rocker. "I was living each day as it came. Then I found out I was pregnant, and we decided to get married." Her conditions were that because she was now knocked up, he owed her the stability of marriage.
However, it was not destined to last long, and Cher was filing for divorce just nine days after the marriage. The whole thing was already crazy, with Cher noting the shock her friends showed about the choice. She looked back on the wedding, remembering how unromantic it was.
Not The Match Made In Heaven Cher Desired
Rushing into the marriage for the sake of a child wasn't a great idea. According to the New York Post Cher had filed for divorce after only nine days because of a plastic bag of white powder she had found. However, after this, the pair made amends and tried to make it work, for the kid.
But, as time went on, Allman slipped further into addiction. His paranoid delusions and dependency were not good for Cher or their child. So, in 1979, four years after their marriage, Cher filed for divorce for real. Despite his repeated visits to rehab, she knew he couldn't kick the addiction.
Cher noted that he did try, despite his addictions. "He kept going to rehab, kept trying to get clean, kept making an effort despite failing in the past. In that moment, instead of thinking of my own exhaustion, I empathized with him." But, after showing signs of paranoid delusions, Cher chose to divorce him and keep herself and her son safe.
