The 48-year-old son of Cher and the late Gregg Allman was released midweek, according to TMZ, which cited multiple sources. People confirmed the report through several insiders familiar with the situation.
Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department responded to a call involving Allman earlier this month. They said he was acting erratically inside a home. Officers also reported finding drugs on the property. Paramedics then transported Allman to a nearby medical facility for evaluation.
The sheriff's department said its investigation is ongoing.
Support After Hospital Stay
Allman, known musically as P. Exeter Blue, is a founding member of the rock band Deadsy. He has faced several public struggles in recent years, including health and legal issues.
His estranged wife, musician Marieangela King, voiced support following his release.
"Elijah has faced personal challenges, but his commitment to sobriety and the people he loves has remained strong," she told People. "He confronts his inner struggles with strength, not from a place of defeat."
She added, "I will always root for him. My support comes from deep respect for who he is and the resilience he continues to show."
A source close to the family told the outlet that Cher, 79, remains focused on helping her son recover. "Like any mother, she's doing everything she can to help him heal," the source said.
A Tumultuous Year
This incident follows a series of legal disputes involving Allman. In late 2023, Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship over his estate. She cited concerns about his mental health and alleged substance use. In September 2024, she voluntarily dismissed the petition after reaching a private agreement with her son.
During divorce proceedings last year, King claimed Cher hired four men to remove Allman from a New York hotel. The accusation surfaced in court documents. Cher denied the claim in a statement to People, calling the rumor false and declining further comment.
As of June 22, representatives for Cher and Allman had not responded to People's requests for comment, the outlet reported.
