It seems like a secret ingredient went awry at the Chips Ahoy cookie factory. According to a statement made by Mondelez Global LLC, the chewy cookie has been voluntarily recalled due to an unexpected solidified ingredient found in the product.

The limited recall specifically focuses on certain Chewy Chips Ahoy 13oz cookies sold in the United States. Some reports of potential health effects have been received by the company. Thankfully this recall only affects the chewy chips ahoy cookies you can find in the red packaging. Cookies with the following dates should be returned to the store or discarded immediately: 07SEP2019, 08SEP2019, 14SEP2019, and 15SEP2019. You can find the date on the top left side of the package near the lift tab.
Who knows what the solidified ingredient could be. Whatever it is, it's probably not what you want to be in your cookie.
One Twitter user shared that her son found some pieces of plastic in their package of Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies. She states that she tried to contact the company without a response. Could this possibly be the reason the cookies were recalled?
