From songwriting partners to real life partners, Chris Stapleton pulled off a miracle by making his work wife his actual wife. Recently, he sat down with Dale Earnhardt Jr. for his Dale Jr. Download podcast. There, he tackles the music as well as his upcoming partnership with the legendary NASCAR driver. However, he also got candid and sweet about his ol' lady Morgane and how they got together. Apparently, she was signed as a songwriter before he ever was. But because they worked near each other, it wasn't hard to run into one another.

Obviously, Chris had been scoping her out for some time and decided to pull a sly move by inviting her for 'songwriting' purposes. The rest was history. "We wrote at neighboring publishing companies. She had a record deal long before I did, that didn't work out as they do... we shared writer rooms, basically, with another publishing company, and we would pass each other in the hall. That was it," Stapleton says. "I asked her to a writing appointment at 8 o'clock at night on a Friday."
Chris Stapleton Started Dating His Future Wife Through Songwriting Sessions
Admittedly, Chris Stapleton can't quite remember if they actually got any work done that night. Regardless, he clearly saw how valuable she was as a partner creatively and romantically. ""Oh yeah... I don't know how much songwriting we actually got done, it was fine. It was fun. She's in the band, she produces record and all this stuff. She's always been my greatest asset in this business I think," Stapleton says.
Additionally, Chris says that the balance between work and life can bring its fair share of friction and arguments. Still, their relationship is rich and strong enough to persevere nearly two decades now. It is really unique, and hard sometimes, cause we're married, too, you know, so I'm not gonna pretend that that's not... doesn't enter into it. We've been married 17 years at this point," Stapleton says.
