Cody Johnson Bows Out of His Remaining Concerts This Year for a Heartbreaking Reason

Sometimes when you are professional singer, things don't always go according to plan. That seems to be the case with Cody Johnson. He is having a real doozy of a year. Johnson snagged a quartet of noms for CMA Awards (the ceremony is next month). He is riding high on a successful tour and was involved with the Better Together Texas benefit concert helmed by Parker McCollum and Miranda Lambert. But all that has come to a crashing halt now. Johnson announced on Instagram that due to a burst eardrum, he is canceling all his remaining concert dates for 2025.

Johnson's Poignant Statement About His Condition

The 38-year-old singer wrote this post with the news of his condition. "It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year's concert performances will not be able to happen. While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my ear drum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery. The healing process will take many weeks, and it is not possible for me to sing during this time. Without the surgery my downtime could be months. I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love. Thank you COJO Nation for the love and support now, and always."

Johnson added, " Please stay tuned for an email from your ticket providers with further details."

More on Ear Drum Surgery

Per the Cleveland Clinic web site, surgery to fix a ruptured ear drum, also called tympanoplasty, can require "10 days to two weeks" recovery time. Someone's hearing may not fully return for three months or more. Of course, each person's case is unique and we don't know all the details of Johnson's situation.

Johnson Is a Skyrocketing Young Star

Johnson has a slew of impressive achievements to his credit. Per his web site, he owns almost 50 RIAA certifications, has five LPs on his resume, plus a pair of chart-topping singles. He has been honored by both the CMA, iHeart, and CMT. Johnson's The Leather Tour, which kicked off in January, has been a blockbuster.
