Cole Hauser Reveals One Thing Everyone Got Wrong About 'Yellowstone' Spinoff

Cole Hauser has delivered a major reality check to Yellowstone fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming spinoff centered around his character Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton.

In an interview with FOX News Digital, Hauser addressed one of the most widely reported details about the forthcoming series. And firmly denied it.

"Well, first of all, it's not Dutton Ranch ... that's not the name of it," Hauser said.

The title Dutton Ranch had previously been cited by Paramount executive Chris McCarthy, who told Bloomberg in April 2025 that a spinoff starring Hauser and Reilly was officially in the works. McCarthy also stated the series would premiere in fall 2025.

Hauser, however, made it clear that the working title is incorrect. While he stopped short of revealing the actual name, he did confirm that the project is real, and that fans can expect more of what's made the Beth and Rip saga so compelling.

"We can expect the same that we've been doing for the last seven years," Hauser said. "Kelly and I going and working our a-- off trying to create something special."

'Yellowstone' Franchise Expands

The spinoff is part of Taylor Sheridan's fast-growing Yellowstone universe, which has already delivered two acclaimed prequels: 1883 and 1923.

1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, explored the Dutton family's journey west. 1923, featuring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, picked up the story a generation later, revealing key moments in the family's history.

Together, the Yellowstone franchise has generated $2.9 billion in revenue for Paramount+, including an estimated $700 million in profits, according to Bloomberg.

More content is on the horizon. Two confirmed projects and at least two more rumored shows are said to be in development:

  • 1944: A potential prequel that would fill more gaps in the Dutton timeline. Paramount has yet to confirm production details.
  • 6666: A long-teased spinoff set at the historic Texas ranch introduced in Yellowstone. While Sheridan restructured portions of the main show to make room for it, he recently admitted it's on hold.
  • Y: Marshals: A new series starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. The project remains in active development under that working title.
  • The Madison: A confirmed Yellowstone sequel starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Suits alum Patrick J. Adams, and Lost veteran Matthew Fox.

Hauser's comments came during an appearance at the Professional Bull Riding (PBR) finals in Arlington, Texas, a fitting venue for one of TV's most rugged ranchers to speak his truth.

While the exact name of the Rip-and-Beth spinoff remains under wraps, one thing is clear: the Dutton universe isn't slowing down. But as Hauser made clear, don't believe everything you read, especially when it comes to titles.
