Famed ‘Saturday Night Live’ Comedian Shares Update on His New Life on Oregon Ranch

Jim Belushi recently opened up on his love for living on a ranch in Oregon and why he still enjoys working with animals.

When you think of a celebrity, your mind often wanders to the mansions, the yachts, the private jets and a life that most of us can only live in our dreams. It's easy to forget that those in the public eye are just people, like you and me. So, when we hear about a celebrity doing normal people things, it can often seem quite alien.

Jim Belushi, a world-renowned comedian, is certainly a normal person with an abnormal amount of success and money. Still, that hasn't stopped him from living an average life. In fact, during a recent interview, he raved about his "spiritual" heaven: a ranch in Oregon.

"I love Oregon, it's a beautiful property," Belushi said. "I've got a sweat lodge. I built a sweat lodge there. They do all kinds of little ceremonial Native American practices... There are 50 cows on my property right now that just had 50 calves, and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen. These little calves running around chasing each other. Actually, last night, I got video of it."

Jim then continued to explain how one night, the cows got out of their enclosure. As such, he awoke to a herd of cattle loitering outside his house one morning.

"They broke down the fence and came over to my place. They're going, 'Where's Jim?' So I had 60, 70 cows in my front yard. They wrangled them up and put them back in the fenced area."

Jim Belushi Loves Working With Animals

If you own a ranch, odds are that you love animals. Jim is no different. In fact, he's got a long list of roles where he's been partnered with different members of the animal kingdom. From his hit 1989 movie K-9 to his current role on K9 PD With Jim Belushi.

"There's an old saying that goes don't work with dogs and don't work with children," Belushi explained, via Fox News. "And I did 'K9' and 'Curly Sue.' What's different about working with dogs is what you hope every other actor has - the ability to be extremely present. When you're extremely present, spontaneity happens, and that's when you capture the magic."

So, even with all the success, fame and money you could ask for, Jim is still being his authentic self. Working with animals is clearly something he enjoys, as is living on a ranch. And for some reason, we all probably like him a little more because of it.
