Comedian Tom Segura Has Another Laugh at Garth Brooks' Expense

The comedian parodied the cover of Brooks' 'Ropin' the Wind' album to promote his upcoming show in Austin, Texas.

After a decades-long career with over 170 million records sold, Garth Brooks doesn't have to apologize to anyone.

On second thought, maybe he should say sorry for some of the outfits he wore in the '90s. That blue and black number he wore on the cover of 1991's 'Ropin' the Wind' can induce headaches if you stare at it long enough.

However, the '90s were a different time. The "Shameless" singer could get away with a fashion crime or two. But comedian Tom Segura won't let Brooks forget.

Segura Has A Show to Promote

To promote his August 27 show at the Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, Segura photoshopped his face over Brooks on the infamous album cover. He even got the typeface right. See the promo HERE.

The sticker with the date and time of the show is a nice touch. It does feel like a throwback to those days when you actually had to go to the record store to buy a CD.

Zoom out, and you can see a green hand holding the CD. Does that mean Shrek is coming to the show, or is this a riff on the comedy venue's alien theme?

This Isn't Tom Segura's First Shot at Garth Brooks

Brooks has been a running joke in Segura's act for at least a decade. The stand-up often pits himself against the country superstar, saying that his massive fanbase couldn't handle Segura's edgy humor.

The "rivalry" then got real when Segura began joking that Brooks might be a serial killer on Your Mom's House, the podcast he hosts with his wife, Christina Pazsitzky. The comedian's evidence was Brooks' very unusual videos he posted on social media, such as this Facebook video and his 2018 stadium tour announcement.

This led fans of Segura to comment on Brooks' social media posts with one simple question:

"Where are the bodies, Garth?"

Segura has heard that Brooks is aware of the jokes. The singer has even blocked him on Instagram.

"First, I got word about a year ago from a 100% reliable source," says Segura. "I was like, 'Does he know?' And they're like 'Oh yeah, yeah. He knows.' And I was like, 'Is he upset?'"

He continued, "And they're like, 'He just doesn't get it. Doesn't know why you're talking about him.' I was like, 'Okay.'"

Segura has also been told that if anyone brings up his name to Brooks, he shows them a video of him taking a fall during a basketball game. He then says, "Karma."

If karma is at work here, it seems like Segura is going to have to be careful for a few weeks.
