According to TMZ law enforcement sources, Conner Smith was behind the wheel of his Chevy Silverado when he struck 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins as she crossed the road. She died later after succumbing to her injuries.

The outlet learned that Dobbins, a local resident, was walking across a marked crossing on 3rd Ave when Conner Smith failed to stop at around 7.30 pm on June 8. She was immediately taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, but later passed.

According to the outlet, sources have said that the "I Hate Alabama" singer is being cooperative with law enforcement. When driving, he was not under any influence. Police believe he simply failed to yield for the pedestrian.

No charges have been filed against Conner. It is likely everyone is chalking this incident up as a freak accident, which is what it's looking like it was.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Conner Smith To Step Away From Country After Fatal Car Accident

Conner Smith's attorney reached out to TMZ to comment on the situation. "n June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins' family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation."

The singer has cancelled some upcoming shows. It's looking likely that he needs a minute before stepping back into music, if he ever does. Per Whiskeyriff, Smith won't be performing at the "A Night In Nashville" concert.

William Morris Endeavor, a talent agency, wrote, "As Conner Smith takes time to privately process recent events, he will unfortunately not be performing in Akron on June 20. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time."

He has also cancelled other shows, such as the Buckeye Country Superfest. "Conner Smith will unfortunately not be performing this weekend. Vincent Mason will be joining us at The Shoe in his place," they wrote to X.

I hope Dorothy Dobbins' family getse the strength they need to navigate this trying time. I also hope COnner Smith is doing as well as he can be.
