Sometimes people in the entertainment business start their careers so promisingly. Then they go off the grid. Their fans wonder why. And miss them! Why they fizzled out can be anyone's guess. Maybe they deliberately withdrew from the industry. Or they changed their career focus. At any rate, it's our loss. Their fame was fleeting. But we still can look back and enjoy what they did while they were active performers and recording artists. Let's consider these country music acts from the 2000s - Chris Cagle, Cyndi Thomson, and Jessica Andrews.

Chris Cagle
This guy was hot back in the day! He actually did very, very well in the industry and with the public. Per American Songwriter, "The man had five Top 10 hits in the early aughts (including 'I Breathe In, I Breathe Out' and 'Chicks Dig It'), and he seemed to be very popular. He enjoyed a pretty active touring career until the mid-2010s, too." Despite the traction he gained as a country music act, Cagle retired 10 years ago. He wanted more time with his family. That's not easy when you are on the road, recording, writing songs, and dealing with the media. He made a very brief, limited return to performing several years ago.
Cyndi Thomson
Cyndi Thomson got off to a rip-roaring start to her career. Per her web site, "Her rapid ascent to stardom came with the release of her debut album My World and the number one single, 'What I Really Meant to Say.'" But she chose not to go further at that time. Following the release of her album, she stepped back. Instead, Thomson eventually took up jewelry design. Her company is Haybelle Co.
Jessica Andrews
Andrews came out of the starting gate in great shape. Almost 17 years old, she notched a solid hit with her 2001 song, "Who I Am." Per Country Rebel, "The song reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and ranked at the eighth spot on the year-end chart. Unfortunately, Andrews was never able to replicate that success." Andrews' next single only charted at a disappointing number 31. Another album and a single were released in the 2000s. She has truly seemed to vanish from the industry.
