Then, in an odd twist, the "Beer Run" singer was arrested after he was discharged from Salt Lake City Regional Hospital. Details are below.

What Do We Know About the Attack on and Arrest of Todd Snider?

On Oct. 30, Snider kicked off his tour to support his latest album, High, Lonesome and Then Some, in Englewood, Colorado.

The 59-year-old songwriter was then scheduled to perform at the Commonwealth Room in Salt Lake City on Nov. 1. The venue then announced hours before the show that Snider would be unable to perform "due to injuries sustained in an incident" the night before.

The singer's team then made an announcement on his Instagram account, sharing that the injuries were much more serious.

"We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the 'High, Lonesome and Then Some' 2025 Tour dates. Ahead of Todd Snider's show in Salt Lake City, Todd sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel. Todd will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time. We deeply apologize for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes.

The message closed with this: "We appreciate your understanding as Todd receives needed medical treatment. We hope to have more information on new dates soon."

According to TMZ, Snider began yelling and cursing at the staff of Salt Lake City Regional Hospital. The authorities stated that he was instructed to leave the property. He complied, only to return and make "verbal threats" to the alleged victim, saying he was going to "kick [their] ass."

Snider was then arrested Sunday evening and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for disorderly conduct, trespassing, and making a threat of violence. He was released yesterday to pretrial services, per a Salt Lake City Sheriff Department spokesperson.

Fans Are Sending Their Love

High, Lonesome and Then Some represented a turning point in Snider's over three-decade career. According to his website, the album was inspired by "health issues, broken business relationships, and a lifetime of failed romances — not to mention immense grief over the loss of his friends and mentors."

Those mentors include legends such as Kris Kristofferson, Jimmy Buffett, Guy Clark, and John Prine. Snider even performed at a Prine tribute show over five years ago.

Fans were quick to send Snider love and prayers during this difficult time.

Fiona Prine, John Prine's widow, shared her shock over the incident, writing, "Jesus..."

"Man. Big love to you Todd," wrote the Ian Moore Band. "This is messed up. Ya know you got the world on your side. Sorry for whatever darkness you encountered."

We'll share updates as they become available.
