Country Singer Carly Pearce Opens Up About Heart Condition In New Update

Carly Pearce continues to grapple with the terror and anxiety of her heart condition. Now, she's trying to figure out how to live a normal life with it. Recently, Carly appeared on an episode of Today on NBC. There, she opens up about the heart condition that continues to flare up over the years. "I had a really debilitating chest pain that was only relieved if I bent over like this (leaning forward), and that's a classic symptom of pericarditis," Pearce explains.

"And then when you lay back, it gets way worse because that wall is kind of inflamed around your heart. I just had a really intense shortness of breath... almost having to suck through a straw."

Carly Pearce Feels Better Amidst Battling Scary Heart Condition

Nowadays, the country crooner is feeling a lot better than she was initially. Ultimately, she's just navigating how to continue her career and live life to the fullest with such a recurring condition. "I'm doing better. I'm healthy, I'm trying to find my new normal. I have what's called recurrent pericarditis. I've had several flares since 2020," Pearce says. "With a busy schedule, I just have to maintain balance more. Maybe not going a thousand percent when I'm running, or maybe walking on a day that I feel a little bit less myself. Just trying to figure out ways to keep my mind and my body just more calm."

Additionally, Carly shares that heart conditions aren't uncommon in the Pearce family. When she was 19, he had a widowmaker heart attack that he thankfully survived. Now, she utilizes his experience and advice in order to properly grapple with the anxiety of her condition. "I've really leaned on him just for help through the anxiety that comes with, 'Oh my gosh, I'm having a chest pain, am I OK, am I OK?'" Pearce adds. "It's been really helpful to have somebody in your family that can really help you through those things."
