I have heard some bad break up stories in my day, but this one may be in the top. Let's face it, break ups suck no matter what. However, they are especially hard when you are completely blindsided by them. Well, that is exactly what happened to country singer Andrew Millsaps when his fiancée broke up with him while he was on stage.

Andrew Millsaps Fiancée Broke Up With Him On Stage

You know how people say there is a time and a place for everything, well I think Andrew Millsaps's fiancée missed that memo. The Neon Union vocalist was just enjoying his life, relishing how good things were going for him. After all, he was engaged, his band was doing well, he just got signed to a major label and he was about to step on stage to give an incredible performance.
When his phone started vibrating and he saw his fiancée's name I am sure he just imagined it was something like "have a great show" text. However, that was unfortunately not the case. When speaking to Taste Of Country Nights, Andrew Millsaps spilled all the details on the scenario.
Apparently, that text message was not pleasent. His fiancée broke up with him right as he went on stage. He told Taste Of Country Nights, that she called things off "over text message, after four-and-a-half years and a ring." It is understandable how anyone would be upset by that, but things for Andrew Millsaps were even worse. That is because this breakup came right before he was set to perform.
The singer recalls, "I was in Baltimore, onstage at soundcheck. I looked at Leo [Brooks] and was like, 'Y'all gonna have to finish off soundcheck."
What Caused The Breakup And What Happens Next?
You may be wondering what would cause a breakup after such a long time? Millsaps explained that it centered around his, now ex-fiancée's, growing feeling of homesickness. She missed her family and wanted to return to North Carolina. However, with his music and career going so well that was not \in the cards for the singer.
I suppose instead of trying to find a way to work around the issue, the woman just thought it would be easier to make a clean break. Although Andrew Millsaps, and most people I'd imagine, are still shocked at how she chose to make that break. Despite her poor timing, the Neon Union vocalist still played the show. Additionally, he admits that there will be a silver lining of this breakup.
He shared with Taste Of Country Nights that "a lot of new music will be written about the breakup," so fans have that to look forward to. Turning his pain into his gain, good on him. We expect to hear many great new songs from the artist soon. Also, for those of you who have ever had a horrible breakup at the worst time, let Andrew Millsaps's story show you you are not alone.
