On December 2, the "TRUCK BED" singer partnered with the American Cancer Society at The Pinnacle to raise money for cancer research. But this wasn't just another charity event for HARDY, who watched both of his grandmothers battle cancer.
One of them, he explained, was able to beat the disease, but the other, his grandmom on his mom's side, wasn't so lucky. HARDY talked about what it was like to lose a loved one to something that was so out of his control.
"She got it, she went into remission, she got it again, and then it spread everywhere. It was a really sad thing," the singer shared with People. "I also know how scary it is because it's one of the few things that we have today that is not only completely incurable, but also very deadly."
Other performers like Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley accompanied HARDY at the event, whom he invited because he knew that they would "show up" for this kind of cause. He emphasized that, "Anything I can do to help put money into trying to figure out how to put it into it is just ... I'm happy to do that."
In total, over $350,000 was raised from that night alone.
HARDY Got Back to His Roots With 'Country! Country!'
Besides raising money for good causes, HARDY has been busier than ever, launching his Country! Country! album in September and spending lots of time on the road.
In a press statement, the singer talked about what it felt like to return to his country roots at last, and how life lessons from the past year have shaped his new record. "I've never been more fired up about a record than I am about COUNTRY! COUNTRY!. This album is like a love letter to the genre that's given me everything," he explained. While performing at Red Rocks, the singer shared, "This album feels honest. I got to write songs about my family, about my grandad... The kind of stuff that only works in country music. It was a necessary reset, honestly."
Fans can listen to the deluxe version of Country! Country! now, wherever they listen to music.
