Nashville is like the hub for country. The same way Hollywood is the beacon for film and other music genres oscillate between New York and Los Angeles. You come to the big city in Tennessee to launch your career, to network with people and maneuver around in the industry. Everyone is looking for their big break there. Of course, some artists don't live there but they do frequently travel in and out of the city for everything work related.

However, one artist claims that his refusal to uproot his life and live in Nashville permanently has drastically affected his career. Recently, Justin Moore went on the God's Country Podcast. There, he openly talks about his decision to move back to his stomping grounds of Arkansas and how his priority shifted the more his home life did. "For me personally, I moved to [Nashville] when I was 18 and I wanted to be George Strait. I wanted to be bigger than anybody, sell more tickets than anybody," Moore recalls.

"Then I got married, had kids, and my priorities changed. God is #1 for me, #2 is my family. It's more important to me to be a good parent and a good husband than it is to be George Strait. So I thought for me personally, that would happen back home," Moore continues.
"I have a lot of great friends here in Nashville. Nashville was really good to me. But it just wasn't home. It just never felt like home. So we moved back home... I live on the property I grew up on. I can hit a pitching wedge to my parent's house where I grew up over a pond in a cow pasture."
However, Justin does say that it came at a cost professionally. Still, he's very content and hopes that his kids one day realize the sacrifices he made for them moving away from Nashville. "It's cost me things in my career. Awards, probably tours. But I don't give a sh-t to be honest with you," Moore says. "I want my kids, 20 years from now, to go, 'Dad was here. He was here and he made us the priority.'"
