Family of Country Star’s Ex-Wife Share Details About Her Public Funeral: “Was Very Specific About How She Wanted This Day To Look and Feel”

Criscilla Anderson's funeral will be open to the public, as she requested before passing away in December, 2025, from colon cancer.

Before Criscilla Anderson passed away, she made one thing very clear: her funeral was to be open to the public, and those in attendance should dress to celebrate her life, not to mourn her passing. Criscilla's close friend Lindsey recently shared a funeral announcement on social media.

"It is with love, intention, and deep respect for her wishes that we invite the public to celebrate the life of Criscilla Emma Marie," The caption reads. "Criscilla was very specific about how she wanted this day to look and feel, and it has been an honor to help bring her vision to life...Dress code: No black, please. Dress as Criscilla would. Coral and teal were her favorite colors, and we invite you to wear them in celebration of her...Please continue to pray over this day, over her children, and over everyone who loved her."

The funeral will take place at the non-denominational Hope Fellowship church in Prosper, Texas, on Jan. 10. There has been no decision on whether the funeral will be livestreamed for Criscilla's worldwide fanbase or those who aren't in a position to travel to Texas.

What Led to Criscilla Anderson's Passing Away?

Criscilla, the ex-wife of country star Coffey Anderson, received a colon cancer diagnosis in 2018. Within a year, doctors informed the couple that it was stage 4.

"I don't think it's curable. It's treatable, but not curable," she told People. "The cancer has spread throughout my para-aortic region and has begun growing up my back," she continued. "My ultimate goal is to be in remission and have it not be chronic but be in a situation where it can be completely healed. The ideal, if that cannot happen, would be to keep it maintained and have it not spread any further for the rest of my life."

Criscilla passed away earlier this month, aged 45. She leaves behind ex-husband Coffey Anderson and their three children, Ethan, Emmarie and Everleigh. However, we shouldn't expect to see too many tears at her funeral. That's not what she would have wanted. Instead, if you're planning on attending, expect to be part of a celebration. Bright colors, happy faces and humorous anecdotes. Clearly, she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
