Dad Speaks Out About His Daughter Being Abused At The Hospital
Frank Gervasi and his daughter, Emmarae, have been through the ringer. Last December, Emmarae has been missing for 25 days before her father found her on a docked boat in Islip. During that time, the younger Gervasi had fallen victim to a human trafficking ring.
Once she was saved, she was transported to Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center, where she thought she would begin her healing journey. Unfortunately that was not the case. While at the psychiatric center, Emmarae's horror story continued.
Although she had escaped the human trafficking ring, she was still suffering from sexual assault. However, now it was at the hands of one of the state hospital's employees. The NY Post shares that "state mental health worker DeShaun McClean of Deer Park allegedly molested and groped" the teen during her stay.
Additionally, it is believed that he "watched her engage in sex acts for a roughly 20-day period in January." Prosecutors arrested McClean last month.
Long Road To Healing Ahead
Poor Emmarae and her father will have a long road ahead of them in terms of healing. How could they not? First Frank had to deal with the anguish of having no idea where his daughter was for 25 days. Then he had to deal with the pain of knowing what happened to her, and that he couldn't be there to stop it.
Also, Emmarae has to heal from her horrendous time stuck in the human sex trafficking ring. 25 days of straight assault and not knowing if she would ever find her way out. Then, to be assaulted again once she thought she had finally come out the other side of her abuse. It truly is incredibly disturbing the things that people will do.
As of now, at least 13 people have been arrested in the disgusting plot that involved drugging and sex trafficking the teenage girl.
