The Dancing With The Stars alum had a terrifying interaction with a crocodile. Irwin, son of the late Robert Irwin, discussed his near-miss during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
"He's not a baby anymore. I named this crocodile Jimmy Fallon, like, years ago, and he's now what we call a boss croc. He's huge," Robert began explaining. "Because we research crocodiles in the wild to, like, better conserve them, right? So the way you do that — my dad came up with this — is you actually have to jump on them."
As the conversation continued, Robert explained that he recently jumped on the back of the crocodile, leading it to "death roll" him.
"I jumped onto him. I kid you not, 14 foot of crocodile, big croc, death-rolls me," he continued. "So I'm stuck underneath him with my arm hanging out. I've got like probably, I don't know, maybe 700 pounds on top of me. And I'm just like, 'What do I do?' And luckily he rolled back the other way, and I was fine. But he's a goer."
Fortunately, Robert was able to avoid any serious danger, primarily due to his experience working with crocodiles throughout the years, and of course, a stroke of luck.
Robert Irwin Won 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2025
Robert Irwin competed on Dancing With The Stars in 2025, ultimately winning the show. When speaking with Men's Health in November of last year, he admitted that his time on the show was to continue sharing his late father's legacy.
"When I step into the ballroom, I'm representing a legacy that my dad [Steve Irwin] created with my mom," Robert said. "I'm representing everything I stand for, not only as a wildlife conservationist, but also as someone who is working really hard to try and spread some positivity and passion. I want to be a role model for young people."
Robert has become a global star in recent years. In addition, he has built a thriving social media presence, while his fearless approach to working with animals continues to keep his father's memory alive. Because of this, millions of fans regularly follow his adventures online. Even so, he might want to be a little more careful the next time he decides to jump on a crocodile's back.
