Deacon Dave Rezendes has been putting up his holiday Christmas lights since 1982. However it is much more than just your ordinary Christmas lights. Each year there is a specific theme to them. He shared with PEOPLE, "The theme always has some kind of a story that it's telling when you walk through the grounds." Not only is there a theme but there are elaborate sets built as well.
Many families return each year to enjoy the display. Deacon Dave Rezendes's Christmas lights have gained a ton of popularity. So much so that he was showcased on the popular show, The Great Christmas Light Fight.
Deacon Dave's House Is The Place Of Miracles
Not only is his home a magical place during the holidays because of the beautiful lights, but because of the love that is shared there. He told PEOPLE Magazine that there is a bridge in his yard that has become famous for romance. After witnessing 82 proposals on that bridge he has officially named it the "proposal bridge."
Furthermore, Deacon Dave's Christmas lights encouraged more than just 82 proposals, they encouraged miracles. He shared the story of the a young couple who brought their baby to the show one year. Unfortunately their child had been diagnosed with cancer. However, while visiting the light display the mother felt as if a miracle had happened during their visit.
She made an appointment with the doctor afterward, and incredibly their child's tumor had vanished! As if that wasn't wonderful enough, Deacon Dave also uses his Christmas lights to support the local community. While it is free for guests to enter and see there is a coin toss, wishing pond, and a donation box. All the money that he makes from his holiday light show go to "the local Santa's Secret Service, which provides gifts to people of all denominations," according to PEOPLE.
He even takes the time to handwrite letter responses to all the children that deposit a letter in Santa's mailbox at his home. Even going as far as ensure those children who do not have a home address for their letter to be mailed to get a response and a toy.
This man shows us what Christmas and Christmas spirit is truly about.
