It hasn't even been 24 hours, and Taylor Swift's The Life Of A Showgirl is already making waves, as expected. It's also causing technical difficulties for some Taylor Swift fans, who have reported that Spotify crashes whenever they try to stream the 12-track project.

According to reports from DownDetector, more than 1000 people reported a crash when they tried to play the new release. Most reported experiencing a crash when they tried to open the album, while some reported being unable to open the app at all.
As one fan shared, "Is it a Taylor release day if Spotify does not go down?" on X, and she's right. When a global superstar like Swift releases an album, it's a worldwide event, and this isn't the only time Spotify has struggled to handle the traffic.
In 2021, with the release of Red (Taylor's Version), many people reported that the app froze or crashed, a similar issue to what fans are experiencing now. Users reported being unable to access the Taylor Swift page to stream the album, which boasted 30 tracks.
Fans wasted no time calling both Spotify and Swift out on the crash. One user even said, "honestly the only person who could make spotify crash congrats queen @taylorswift13." Similar problems were also reported with Swift's albums Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.
The Biggest The Life of A Showgirl Fan is Taylor Swift Herself
Taylor Swift first teased The Life of A Showgirl on August 12, 2025, when a countdown on her website ended, revealing the album's colors and theme. Via the New Heights podcast the next day, Swift proudly shared that she would be sharing her new album with the world on October 3.
So far, as is typical with swifties, the reviews have been all over the place, from high praise, to mixed reviews on the album's musical content. However, it doesn't seem like the reviews are going to phase Swift, who claims this project has "some of the best ideas [she's] ever had."
On the podcast episode, when talking about producers Max Martin and Shellback, Swift said, "It meant the world to me to have this creative experience where we knew we had to bring the best ideas we've ever had. I also know the pressure I'm putting on this record by saying that, but I don't care because I love it that much."
Fans should be able stream The Life of A Showgirl on Spotify, Apple Music, and anywhere you listen to Taylor Swift. But, we can't promise your app won't crash when you do.
